Glitz and Glamour Christmas Décor

Decorate your home for the festive season!

As we begin to think about decorating our homes for Christmas, the magic of the holiday season begins. From unpacking jolly ornaments and untangling the fairy lights, to decorating the tree and making everywhere look festive – it's the time of year when we want to reconnect as a family and share memorable moments with friends, in a warm and welcoming environment.

With this in mind, we've come up with some festive ideas and inspirations for those of you wanting to add some extra sparkle throughout your households. Whether you're thinking about trying a new colour scheme or are looking for easy ways to update your existing decorations, here are three Christmassy styles to transform your home.

Warm rustic

Draw inspiration from nature with this wintry décor which combines natural elements from fauna and flora, pine cones, mistletoe and timber, with a dash of sparkle and brightness. Using pleated paper, textured linen, and woven rattan, reed and wicker decorations set amongst burnished copper baubles, frosted glass, and twinkling fairy light, the vibe is casual and rustic.

Style tip: Adding colourful baubles and paper ornaments to a plain fir garland and stringing it over a staircase or fireplace will give it a festive and eye-catching look. Likewise, traditional Christmas crackers will help make dining tables look merry and exciting (buy ones made from sustainably-grown wood and which are recyclable).

Dusky magic

Create a mystifying mood with an inky blue and rich plum colour scheme to highlight luxurious velvets, satins, and gilded ornaments. An intriguing dark background will add a touch of festive sophistication and a unique setting – think shimmering metallic baubles, decorative feathers, ornate gilt and filigree decorations, all set against a rich and rustic palette of emerald, charcoal and navy.

Style tip: Wrap Christmas gifts in patterned paper and glitzy luxe foils in red, silver and green topped with colourful red satin ribbons and sparkly baubles, then stack these high around throw pillows to create an eye-catching focal point.

Golden luxury

Mixing darker tones of lustrous gold and silver décor with burnished brass is a surefire way to make your rooms that much brighter. Silver pairs well with colours such as blues or greens, but can still look fab with glittery gold decorations in contemporary settings, especially with neutral or snowy white surroundings. Add sparkling tinsel and strands of pearl beads to your tree for a glam vintage effect.

Style tip: Clusters of sparkly ornaments and pine cones, held together with a beautiful champagne ribbon, will provide an elegant contrast to showcase the grandeur of the season.

Crimson sparkle

From a frosted Christmas tree to poppy red decorations, make your home décor vibrant and joyful with sprigs of holly berries, iconic sparkling scarlet baubles, and pops of red table linens.  The combination of red with gold, silver or green creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. That's right, while red plaid fabric on cushions, vases full of sprigs of evergreen and scented red candles will finish the look and capture the Christmas spirit.

Style tip: It takes very little time or effort to decorate the house for Christmas – all you need is a little imagination. For instance, wrapping the front door in a large red velvet bow will create an instant impact and provide a joyful greeting.
