Add a Pop of Colour to Your Wardrobe!

Life… These days it may not seem to be an endless kaleidoscope of sunshine and rainbows, but you’ll find that adding a splash of vibrant colour to your outfits will go a long way towards helping you feel better, both physically and mentally. In fact, just as the beautiful exotic flowers of Sri Lanka can make you happy by triggering your 'feel-good' hormones (dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin), bright colours – especially red, yellow and orange, which are associated with warmth, enthusiasm, passion and energy – can do the same.

With this in mind, let's take a look at some of the strongest and most outstanding colours which will be sure to evoke a 'feel-good' reaction in you and others. Maybe we can’t change the world, but we can change our wardrobes.

Now is the time to step out and pop your colour! Oh and please don’t be shy about it ... mix and match those complementary shades together and feel free to experiment with impactful colour combinations. Give a thought to neon pink, electric blue, and fluorescent green too!

Here are a few fabulous combinations & what they represent:

  • turquoise & violet – creativity, royalty, wealth

  • scarlet & oatmeal – passion, love, power

  • peach & green – abundance, nature, wholesomeness

  • fuchsia & grey – mystery, elegance, moodiness

  • orange & yellow – youthfulness, vitality, hope

  • pink & YinMn blue – pureness, elegance, modernity

'FEEL-GOOD SHADES'

Paint the town RED!

Who doesn't love the colour red? Red is a powerful accent colour (used for emphasis) and can be very versatile. Its complementary colour is green, and these two colours can play off one another with extraordinary effect. Darker shades of red in particular will demonstrate power and elegance. Check out cherry, pomegranate, strawberry and crimson shades, too.

Out of the BLUE!

It should come as no surprise that most shades of blue look great alongside bold colours. For example, light blue with bright yellow to look refreshing, or with shades of pink to represent calmness. Meanwhile, royal blue can be matched with scarlet or lemon. These brilliant colour combinations invariably look chic and sexy, creating the most amazing styling partnerships.

Tickled PINK!

Hot pink, shocking pink, pastel pink, bubble-gum pink, bloom, blush or ultra-bright magenta, as electric as ever. Pink unmistakably signifies feminine energy but it is endlessly versatile. It can be made to look innocent, luxurious, brash or sophisticated, or deliberately used to make a thrilling impact – especially when matched with green for a classic colour combination.

GREEN with envy!

There are no limitations to the way you can use green as an 'ingredient' in exceptional clothing colour combination. Artichoke, asparagus, avocado, apple and bamboo hues work well with red, yellow, orange, violet and pink to create fresh contemporary styles.

Take the plunge

Pairing and harmonising bold colours may seem a little challenging at first, but don’t be timid! I assure you that experimenting with your outfits and achieving that fabulous eye-catching, colour-coordinated look will not only enhance your style but it will also add a pop of colour to your life.
