Time out at Malabar Hills

Explore the definition of luxury with a sojourn at this Southern paradise

Billed as a hidden oasis, Malabar Hill is a boutique resort situated in the heart of a forest in Palalla, a rural hamlet in Weligama in the south of Sri Lanka. With a breathtaking view of the hilltops, the resort is designed to provide a luxurious experience making it a perfect location for those who wish to spend time in southern Sri Lanka. Being conveniently close to many tourist attractions, from the sandy beaches of Weligama bay and prime surfing spots to spectacular paddy fields to the wilderness, you can enjoy the many charms of the area while relishing the luxuriousness of the secluded Malabar Hill.

Architecture

Through a 10 year design process, designer Lawson Johnston created Malabar Hill, deriving inspiration from the boundless explorations of Sri Lanka. Malabar Hill is the true embodiment of artisan craftsmanship, evident in every component of the resort, from the locally handmade terracotta roof tiles to timber doors and windows. With its intricate mosaic tiling and the beautiful wooden trellises Malabar Hill has a Moorish vibe making it all the more interesting as it incorporates subtle Moorish architectural touches.

These architectural features blur the lines between your reality and the natural world, giving you an out-of-the-world experience with luxurious accommodation and minimal distractions. Combined with antique interiors, the colonial architectural space is built to elevate your experience in the nature.

Accommodation

With the natural landscape poised as a perfect backdrop, there are 14 villas offering you the luxury of an aesthetic view and serenity. The villas are categorized into two sets; one offering a view of the Indian Ocean and the other with a hillside view over the neighbouring wetland sanctuary.

Prepped with a king-size bed for two people, the one-bedroom villa is accompanied by a spacious bathroom with a rain shower and access to the terrace. Complemented with a private patio with an al fresco dining area and an infinity plunge pool, each villa has been created to help you immerse yourself in the beauty of nature without any interruption.
