On 23rd July each year, the Arab Republic of Egypt proudly commemorates its National Day. This year, Egypt celebrates the 71st anniversary of its Revolution, and 66 years of diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka. Egypt was  the first African and Arab country to establish diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka in 1957. For six and half decades, both countries played pivotal roles in launching and leading the Non-Aligned Movement and various South-South cooperation schemes.
