Guests were treated to a delicious Sri Lankan dinner, a comedy set by Sri Lankan Australian Comedian, Dilruk Jayasinha, a performance by Phil Burton of Human Nature, and so much more at a unique fund raising event in Australia organised and hosted by Eresha De Zoysa, Peter Kuruvita, and UNICEF, with the support of their friends including Dilhan Fernando from Dilmah, who flew into Sydney for the occasion.
Moved by the plight of the people in Sri Lanka Eresha, a Corporate Lawyer and Founder of Lord & Lion Spice Company, and Australian Sri Lankan Celebrity Chef & Restaurateur Peter Kuruvita joined hands with UNICEF to bring about this one of a kind fundraiser. They raised about $500k for UNICEF’s Emergency Appeal for Sri Lanka. They had 420 people in attendance and it was organised in 4 weeks due to the desperate situation in Sri Lanka. Supporters included Australian Cricket Captain Pat Cummins, ex cricket captain Steve Waugh, Shane Watson, Glenn McGrath, Ex Football Captain of Sydney Roosters, Anthony Minichello, Celebrity Chefs Peter Kuruvita and Manu Fieldel. The dinner was made by Colombo Social, The Fold and Manjit.
The organisers claim this event is the largest fundraiser for Sri Lanka held globally.
